  1. Excellent result !

Shows how thick he was to end up at Crown Court ,with all that entails....

Yes Could not believe he opted for Croun Court and then to change his plea last minute to Guilty, I'm sure if he had plead Guilty at the Magistrates Court it would have been less than half of the fine received.

    Serves him right.

  2. Waiting on the Police to return the Sim Cards with the photos on.

I did have an idea who the person might be as I had words with him 6 months earlier with a Lurcher on the land that we shoot, Usual story "My dog just ran under the gate and I chased after him"!!

A 25Kilo with feed going missing always on a Thursday night and Squirrel traps our problem was wood is quite large and a lot of feeders and only 3 trail cams between us nothing fancy just he little acorn cams.

We chose our spots as it happened quite well but on 1 night vid was to blurred as the infrared was shinning back to the lens due to leaves in front, rearranged the cams and next time perfect pictures.

This person decided to opt not guilty originally at Magistrate Court and go to Crown, Once at Crown Court decided to plead Guilty I think the Judge was not impressed with him as he was fined £360 £80 Compensation for 2 feeders £350 court cost £36 surcharge Total £826

His Name was Anthony Riley! Page 7 of today's N Wales Daily Post

The feeders where not recovered but we believe he was stealing them for a relative that keeps Chickens ducks Geese.

The Police At times get a bad press sometimes with shooting sport But fair play to N Wales police Rural crime for the help in bringing this person to Justice.

  3. Sorted. Well done. Was the thief an anti or another shooter, stealing for his own shoot?

Not an Anti he does have and works lurches. From what we can make out he was stealing them for the barley and giving it to a relative to feed chickens.

It would have been cheaper for him to buy 25 Kig .

  4. Was it somebody you knew of and was it a surprise to you, or were they already likely candidates ?

We have all kinds of funny stuff going on, traps nicked, a high seat repeatedly pushed over, and two Bantam cockerels left in our release pen!

Did have a suspicion that it might have been this person he was nothing to do with the shoot but lived nearby, had a few trail cameras doted around various places, Had them on the camera a few weeks back but image was not good enough to make out who they where.

Patients paid off in the end and hope if nothing else, That alone will be enough to keep people away in the future.

  5. Many years ago I was a young soldier on stag duty in a field. Cold and wet, fearful of the warrant officer creeping up in case I fell asleep and slitting my throat with a red market pen.

All hell would break loose if that happened, thankfully when it did it was not me.

Anyways, I was at my post in the depth of night in a hill in Hampshire, I had drawn double stag for cheating on a run.

I saw two fiqures walking along a hedge line toward the make shift patrol base, squinting through the rubbish 1st gen night sight I couldn't make out any weapons or uniform but wasn't taking any chance, they got closer about 20 yards, halt! I said, password, . . No reply, weapon cocked (had blanks) and I repeated my challange, they ran like the wind.

I sent up a flare to illuminate them and the guys stood two thinking the other platoon were having a pop. Nothing. Had a smoke (u can get creative when light is an issue) and swapped with a mate.

Was two poachers after the pheasant poults nearby. Apparently they were caught a little way away after crashing in a ditch and told the officers they thought they were going to be shot. They were, but only with blanks.

    Hate thieves.

    I bet they S....... Themselves!

We had all kinds of ideas but decided between the syndicates we had a few trail cameras and not the expensive ones either, but the quality of the picture in the dead of night could not have been better if it was taken by a professional.

  6. Had a Couple of traps pinched from the shoot then 25Kilo feeders full of wheat going missing 6 weeks ago so we set up our Trail cameras around the wood, All quiet for 4 Weeks then noticed 2 feeders gone on Saturday, Checked the cameras and hey presto 2 Persons walking out of the wood with the feeders!!

Police informed arrest made and charged.

Let it be a warning to poachers and thieves we no longer have to sit around for hours on end to catch them.

  7. Well done for your determination and perseverance, I represented my daughter in an employment tribunal not so long ago after Citizand advice and others said she did not have a chance I said they where wrong and we won.

Unbelievable amount of work so I would hate to think how much paper work and studying you had to go through for your case but there is no better feeling of satisfaction when everyone says you have no chance and you prove them wrong and did it all yourself.

Enjoy your shooting and hope that the police compensate you for all the time you have had to put in.

  8. Birds arrived yesterday everything fine this morning. checked the first pen this afternoon everything fine birds happy, second pen seemed quiet as I approached went in and as I was walking through the pen Buzzard took off and one eaten poult the second half eaten rest of the birds huddled together in one corner. Brds are 7 weeks old and wings clipped.

We have CDs hanging everywhere going to put some netting up Tom and kiddies windmills any other suggestions?

  9. Bet the seagull didnt think it was so great

    he got skewered :good:

Seagull was definitely skewered, plenty of other seagulls where mobbing it at the time but but the skua was not bothered at all.

  10. While out working with the boat today we noticed a Seagull being attacked by another bird on a sandbank eventually killed the seagull and spent the next hour and a half eating it! Through binoculars we watched him and could not fathom out what the bird was did not look like a bird of pray and had white flashes under the wings.

Good old google search tonight I found the culprit to be a Great Skua, never seen one before here in the Menai straits N Wales seems a very aggressive sea bird.

  11. When I had mine part trained a couple of years ago she was a nightmare afraid of everything! Had to leave the lawn mower in the middle of the garden for a week for her to get used to it, around the house she is afraid of her own shadow but go out with the shotgun she is unbelievable nothing will stand in her way.

Very intelligent dogs and like humans all have their difference characters, if she sees the black shotgun slip coming out she goes mental straight to the front door if the green rifle slip comes out she gives me a dirty look and goes to lie down on her bed as I very rarely take her with the rifle.
