    Is this what you've got? I'm a fan of Spyderco knives having owned a few.. they tend to disapear easily which annoys me! Need a new one at the mo.

     

     

    Yeah thats the one. I got it from mindyourfingers as well. You get a dvd with it on how to use, but they dont tell you all you need to know. Prime example is: I would end up with a blunt tip on my knifes after sharpening.

    Same here! They were waterproof for a few months then turned into a sponge. Sole came apart at arch of foot. Found them uncomfortable. The insole kept slipping forwards after the first few times out & I ended up buying gel insoles for them. They were cut really easy by brambles etc. I cleaned them after every outing & looked after them very well but they ended up looking very old in a very short time. They may be ok for the shooter that goes out once or twice a fortnight but for regular use in the field IMHO I would look for something else.

    I was really disappointed with them & would not buy again.

    haha, so true.

     

    you could also add:

     

    "the minute you tell someone to walk a bit more quietly you will instantly step on a twig, sounding like an elephant"

     

    I would find the only stick in a desert!

  13. Duff Shoulder/Recoil Help!!!

    I’ve got a knackered shoulder & it’s the one the gun butt sits in. Some days it is no trouble but I only have to get one shot hurt it & my day is over. Yesterday the first shot hurt me & after 4 shots I was packing up. As you can imagine this is very soul destroying as I love my pigeon shooting. What I need is some help with reducing the recoil.

    After a bit of a search I have found these items. Has anyone used these, or can recommend something to relieve my agony.

    The phone rings ten minutes before the end of the England game. It was a farmer that I shoot rabbits for asking if I can come down to shoot some pigeons. They were getting on the mowing fields that had barley mixed in with it. Told me their were loads and.

    “You know they will start on they barley fields when they’ve stripped the grass land.”

    I packed all my equipment into truck. The rotary was left. Forgot to charge battery. Doh!

    Arrived at farm drive only to go over cattle grid to be confronted with a flock of pigeons that I couldn’t even begin to count. I sat there for 5mins to see the flight lines only to discover they where coming in from every direction. So drove round the edge of field. Set up my hide, put 12 shells, 1 foam bouncer out & then drove truck down the hedge line out of the way. Check the time 5.30pm & start walking back to hide only to see the pigeons already down on my decoys & loads dropping in.

    Sat myself in hide whilst dropped two shells in barrel the pigeons were coming back onto decoys. The fun began. They were coming at me from all directions & as soon as you fired they were coming back again. After about 20mins I thought I’d better have a clear up as they started getting spooked by unusual decoy pattern.

    This bit amazed me. I leave the hide pick up some birds put behind hide & start walking back to pattern to retrieve the rest of the fallen when they start dropping in again. I’m still out in the open & walking towards them. Red Letter day or what?

    Now I consider myself a complete novice with a shotgun, up until the end of last year I had not fired one for over 15 years. So here is the lesson I learned yesterday evening.

    3 boxes of cartridges kept in store is not enough. It will never be enough & if your Red Letter day arrives like mine did & you’ve not got enough carts. You’re a dumb **** like me.

    I was back home by 7.15pm I picked up 45 pigeon & can account for 10 that I couldn’t find in the long grass along side the hedges.

    I really enjoyed my brief session & will be going back tomorrow, just got to go to gun shop today.

    One of the first things i was told when i started pigeon shooting was not to shoot at large flocks......... :good::P

     

    Ruined my day yesterday by doing this.

    I was hid in a old cattle shelter, to the right was blind could not see birds until they were on to the decoys. The pigeons were coming from the left which was perfect, after about an hour four birds dropped in to the decoys from the right. Just as I pulled the trigger the rest of the flock appeared just behind them from my blind side. Never seen a pigeon for the rest of the morning so called it a day.

    On the bright side at least I had enough for a couple of pie's.

  20. Waterproof Gloves

    I bought a pair of Sealskinz Ultra Grip about two weeks ago. Found them great when out with the shottie. The fingers flex easily, so using the trigger is a safe & easy operation. Also easy to re-load with a gloved hand. They have kept my hands warm & dry even after a 6-hour session in a cutting wind. If they turn out to be hard wearing I will be buying another pair when these wear out.

  22. comfortable chair?

    I need some recommendations for a comfortable chair/stool for hide shooting.

    Due to knackered knees it needs to have a reasonable seat height or I will never be able to get off the damn thing in time to shoot the pigeons.

    Nothing to heavy, back support would be bonus but not essential.
