  1. Edit - I realised having read T&C that stating payment must clear etc could be dodgy so if you want to perform a remote transaction let's use an RFD
  2. We went out last night and had a very (for me) successful evening bagging 5 rabbits, well bagging 4, the 5th being the subject of this thread. My nephew and I rounded a hillock and spotted a lone bunny sat grazing on a bank about 30 yds out, I went down on a knee, lined up and took the bunny out lovely and clean; he just dropped to the point I thought I had missed. I reloaded to take a second shot but the bunny was gone so assumed that he had scarpered. Once I had returned to the place Nick was standing he said the the rabbit had dropped where it was but had been scooped up almost instantly by a badger that ran out of the hedge and off with my prize in one smooth action. I though he was pulling my leg until as we walked up the course I picked up a badger in my lamp carrying guess what? A bunny. It was pretty funny to watch as he kept tripping over the rabbit and dropping it as he was trying to get out of the lamp light. I was just wondering if this is common practice? Foxes I can understand but I always thought badgers preferred mushrooms or snakes... (apologies for the obscure final reference, if you know what I mean then you'll know; if not just ignore that part)....
  3. Hi Dave and all An update for you, I called Greenacres and unfortunately he has asked a friend to sort it so at the moment there isn't any opportunities. However, inspired by your school of thought I tried a half dozen or so different courses around the local vicinity. I goy onto the waiting list for one and best of all secured a full 18 hole golf course which has proven epic. It's a properly professional setup too; not just a "yeah go and shoot if you want" we got a permission letter as well as a map of the problem areas and chatting with the secretary some useful information on where the warrens are etc. Happy days. Thanks for the advice and idea.. M
  4. Hi I am looking for some permission in SW Cornwall for pest control shooting (rat, pigeon, corvids and/or rabbit). I am currently using a sub 12ft/lb air rifle, hoping to get another shottie soon but will continue with the air rifle too. I am careful, considerate and could get references if necassary. I will be fully insured. Any leads would be really appreciated Thanks Matt
  5. Thanks for the input. When I say rough I think of a little of both really but I guess more towards rabbits, I prefer pigeon shooting but its a little sparse at the moment; Cornwall isn't known for large fields of crops. I agree and appreciate 100% about the commitment; that's one reason for asking the questions.
  6. At the moment purely rough. I forgot to mentions we also have the opportunity for beating during the season so in the future we may look to give her a try...
  7. Hey All My son and I have reached a point in our lives where we feel that we would be able to give a dog a good home. We would like a good intelligent breed, easy to train with a good memory. We want to start from scratch with a pup; I know there is a lot to be said for rescuing an older dog but we really want to bond from vanilla. We are considering two breeds ESS and Black Lab leaning quite heavily towards the lab as my experience of springers is their being mad as a box of frogs. Our intention is to obedience train and follow up with gun tolerance and retrieval. We live in a 2 bed detached cottage in the country with enough garden to provide a latrine and tons of countryside for exercise. The only real issue I have identified with regards to getting a freshly weaned puppy is my working routine. I work 2 days then two nights with the day between the days and nights off, followed by 4 days off. my son is finishing school so is out for about 6hrs a day (Although I work close to home so could pop back for lunch). Obviously some of the days I'm at work he will be home with the pup, weekends etc. Questions: Which breed? Are we right to lean towards the lab or would a springer suit us? Re the age of the pup - are we going to encounter issues with him/her being left for up to 6 hrs (but maybe 3 if i come home at lunchtime) during the first few weeks? Might a breeder hold on to a pup for a few weeks extra to get through the initial house training or is that a bad idea? Any constructive comments would be really appreciated. Matt
  8. Well spotted - first prize that chap! It's .177 if you missed the edit Matt
  9. ***SOLD*** Hi I have up for sale my AA S410 in .177 it is a few years old but in great condition with no bangs or knocks in the wood. It has had a few mods which might not be everybodys cup of tea; it comes with an ally 20 shot mag, it also has a shiny cylinder which looks great but is a bit rubbish for stealth... The gun is for sale as I need to raise cash for Christmas and don't really use it frequently enough to justify keeping it. The gun shoots well nad has consistent accuracy and power, I have the gun zeroed at 35yds and can plink steel nuts off a chair at this range without breaking a sweat. The only bad thing is that the bolt has been swapped for left hand, I bought a right hand replacement but never got round to fitting it, I believe the gun to be pre anti-tamper so it won't take a rocket scientist but I am timid about playing with things I don't really understand. The stock is a right hander. The rifle will come fitted with an Edgar Bros 3-9 x 52 (i think...) scope and a tac light both of which are as new. Included is also a small charging bottle and rig, it is on a short date - the beginning of 2011 IIRC but can be tested for an extra £30. This ready to rock airgun package can be yours for the unbelievably low price of £400 or near offer; I would prefer a face to face transaction and the bottle will put the postage through the roof but if you are willing to arange it and pay... Oh and I don't want to split it up - thanks
  10. No you are cool, loads of people ask silly questions without thinking it out first M
  11. Thanks very much for the constructive and helpful reply. Also apologies for the double post - don't quite know what happened there...
