  1. Does it quieten the xl down at all as I have one and it's unbelievably "twangy"

I changed the standard spring for a Titan NO 1 Spring for the XL, it has had 3mm taken off the lenth and its made all the differnce in the world

before the spring change i was only getting power to 9.7 after the spring change i was getting just over 11.4 but now I've go it down to 10.8

and the sound of the spring is like music to the ears. I would definitaly recommened changing to the Titan No 1

  2. Hi,

I thought you all would like to see my new home made spring compressor for my Lightning XL.

But first of all I am petty new to air rifle shooting about 2 1/2 years now. I spend most of the time at Steve Smith Shooting Ground at

Dinnington on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne, where there are a number people who are always ready to help. There are two lads

in particular MR B & MR T that I would like to thank for there help and support over the last couple of years. When i first bought my Lightning

Xl they showed me how to oil and grease certain parts, replace springs, etc etc They also help me make different types of targets. So making

the compressor take a little bit of there shoulders. Anyway, thanks very much lads, its greatly appreciated.

  3. Hi all

I had a couple of weeks refinishing a pair of Daystate Airwolf stocks for a chap, he bought a kit and had a go himself but the oil wouldn't dry and stayed very tacky all the time :/

Anyhow, he'd seen pics of my stocks on Flickr that I had redone and messaged me, he offered me a BSA Superstar and ASI 4-12x56 superscope to undertake the job...

    I couldn't wait to start!!

These are the sticky stox

The tacky oil came away easily with nitromors, strangely the stocks went quite a bit darker in colour which was good as the owner wanted them darker anyhow..

the Nitromors wouldn't remove whatever the coating was that Daystate applied so complete sanding was required <_<

    Two coats of grain sealer..

Around eight or ten coats of oil later (I lost count actually  )

I emailed pics all the way through the job and the owner was getting mighty worried up until the grain sealer was applied

By the end he was over the moon with the job!!

    My 'prize' for the job!!

In fact the chap was so overjoyed with the outcome that he suprised me with a 'Bonus'!!!!

Well, As it turns out, i'm over the moon now as I was hoping to buy a decent Scorpion to add to the collection of two BSA Magnum 240's and around a dozen or so Webley overlever pistols B)

Thanks for looking in, John :)

    Hi,

How do you get that shine on the stocks

    Thanks

    Brian

  4. Hi all,

I just want to tell you about my 2nd outing for shooting rabbits,

I've got to say a massive thanks to Chris for taking the time to let me come out with him on his permissions, i put a sos out in PW for anyone that would let me shoot with them, because I'm a dialysis patient and couldn't manage a permission of my own. So Chris contacted me through the PM system on PW and arranged a shoot today. I think he deserves a big pat on the back.

  5. Hi

I shoot Air rifles but have decided to try shotguns, What would be the best shotgun for me as I an quite small and not very strong i am 58 years old. I would be shooting clay pigeons, rabbits and other vermin I would have about £600 to spend, would the 20 gauge be better for me because they are lighter.

    Thanks in advance

  6. Hi Everyone,

I hope you will excuse my cheek when I ask if there is anyone on PW that has a permission or permissions on land the would be good enough to let me shoot on a small field or small section of their permission, I live in Whickham and have asked quite a few farmers in the area but there is a syndicate that owns most of the land in the Whickham and Sunnisde area of Newcastle. The main reason for me asking is that I am a 59 year old dialysis patient and can not walk all that far. I could meet up with you if you need to ask me any questions. I know it is asking a lot, I wouldn't do this if I had been a bit younger
