  1. Where is your shop Gunman?

    +1 ?

I try not to be an armchair bully or provoke but you do come across as the exact reason I drive from East Sussex to Wiltshire to use the only rfd I have found to be friendly and willing (and they aren't perfect ).

  2. Ohh isn't that sweet, you selflessly thought for one second about the future an spending time with your kid...

Man up Shirley... In 10 days you will be making excuses about starting work early just to sleep in your car for a precious 10 minutes... Keep the guns and maybe you will have something to bond over when jnr finally understands your heavy handed fathering in 38 years time..

Of course unless you do exactly as your told like me that is :-).

Congrats and ignore because I'm bitter, old an child free (sorry I mean child less) :-).

  4. I suppose I had better respond to this one....

Yes, I did get my RFD ticket. It took quite a bit of planning, paperwork and some expensive security installations as I was going to operate from home. I over-egged the security by choice though.

It was never designed to be a high turnover business but more a niche service providing the unusual, rare or very high quality. I enjoy searching for guns and seeking them out so it was a hobby that got a bit serious..... Obviously my overheads were very low so I was "relatively" inexpensive but this also led to my selling guns back to the trade where they could justify a larger mark-up.

This is all irrelevant now as I am living and working in Kenya so the whole thing is dormant!

    GBS

Amazing, I love the twists and turns of life !.

  5. Hi I took my shotgun in to this rfd today to have it sent to another rfd as I sold it. And it cost me £45 to have it sent. When I asked why so much as last time they sent one for me it was£25. The potty mouthed women in there piped up and said its gone up becouse of fuel. So I phoned litts sportsman guncenter and they said they charge £25 to send or receive. So I told potty mouth and she said why don't you take it there then. I couldn't as it was an hour drive in opposit direction. So I said I will never use your shop again. and she responded ok. She couldn't give a flying ****. Where's the customer care.

Anyone else had similar from this shop in Ross cheers

This is the exact reason why more competition and better rfds have to be a good thing (see other post about part time rfd).

I get soooo angry at **** service but with generally only one every 30 miles there are a lot of **** ones

  6. Just what the trade needs ! Another part time dealer undercutting those of us who try to make a living with proper premises ,business rates and all . Do any of you wonder why gun shops are closing all over ?

Is it because try are over priced, rude, out of date and always amaze me with their general attitude towards their paying customers ?. I'm sure you are one of the good ones and not all are like my experience on Kent but competition is a good thing. I competitor to me opened up just down the road two weeks ago. I now have to get up every morning and try harder. Its helped remind me that there is always something I can do better which is only going to be good news for me and my clients.

Well done to the chap for getting out there and doing something when so many expect the work to come to them !.

  7. Sorry I didn't make that clear did I.

I asked about having written "permission" to shoot for me and my friend who does not hold a sgc but not the shooting rights. The answer was you can take anyone you like as long as your next to them.

Another post showed a different response from the same county.

It's also worth saying that just using the words "rights" on a permission letter may not actually constitue rights as there is more involved in owning the sporting rights.

Somewhere in my head the thought is rattling around that you can take ANYONE under the age of 14 shooting as long as they are under supervision. I may have made this up and haven't checked it as I supposed to be paying attention in this meeting :-).

Back to the first point its great to see someone. Trying to get a friend into the shooting sports. Please don't take my ramblings as anything other than trying to be helpful an I too wish it was easier to get people trying it :-).

  8. For what its worth my view is.

This has yet to be tested in court and I for one wouldn't want to be the one its tested on but "rights" can be as much defined by the landowner as the law. In that; if it all goes to **** and your mete shoots the neighbours dog the landowners opinion of rights will matter just as much. Now you may know him very well, be the godfather to his daughter and shared many a cosy evening in front of the fire drinking whiskey with the man and he may defined you by saying you have rights (dowsnt like his neighbour anway as the sog bit his child) However, if your mate shoots the land owners dog I would wager his opinion will be dramatically different to the first hypothesis.

An easy way to define rights is with a legal document. I live in East Sussex and almost all of te larger farms sell their shooting "rights" in a legally binding exchange of money and contract.

Now I have one permission that I do allow a friend to shoot under supervision with me. It's a collection of small holdings. The landowner is always within sight and sound. He knows the pal just as well as me, we have always shot together (including air rifle) and I own the rights to shoot the land (sold for a £1). In addition I have the landowners written consent to allow this scenario. Now this was all arranged informally over one of his home made apple juices but still I'm sure he would go off me should his cocker have an accident.

So, same friend on another very large estate in rural Hampshire. I have written PERMISSION here and have know this chap for 7 years. I would NOT allow my friend to shoot here with me as I do not have all the above in place.

You can and should make your own assessment of the statement as this would form part of the case should you end up in court. But if you want to avoid court completely just don't do it.

Btw- when I spoke with Sussex firearms dept lensing my shotgun to someone was just fine so comparing this to another post I don't think I'm going I have an clarity from the police on this matter but of course I have saved the email exchange should I ever need it :-).

My opinion is its not worth the potential pain.

  9. Hi all,

For sale is an android 16gb wifi an 3G tab 2. It's still brand new in a box and never been used. I purchased to use at home but ended up getting a second hand 10" which is fine so this needs to go.

They are selling on eBay for around £190 so will take £160 as there is no fees etc.. Need a quick sell so is up elsewhere.

    Thanks
