I'm 29 days in having smoked for around 14 years. I've tried and failed in the past but ,having recently turned 30, this time I'm determined to close the book on it. I've managed to stay strong while having a beer and while out shooting thus far.

Today I had my second dose of radiation in Lincoln. It wasn’t painful but the whole business is emotionally testing.
Three miles out of Lincoln I had seen pigeons going into rape fields on my inward journey and I decided to park up and watch those fields in an attempt to wind down. It would have been a good opportunity for someone - a decent continuous line in from a distance away.
A phone call interrupted my viewing. It was the farm manager of a very large farming company in these parts asking whether I had seen the pigeons on this field and that field and the other field. The list went on. I had seen them all but I failed to tell him that I had been out of action for a while in case he called up reinforcements.
We got onto general farming matters and I asked him about one satellite farm all of which was drilled with rape and all of which has failed. That will be redrilled with oats. That was disappointing, but when he told me that he had 8,000 acres to drill in the spring including beans and peas my mood perked up.
I have set myself a target of being fully fit by mid March. That should coincide with some drillings surely?
Well done mate. I have no doubt you will surpass that goal and be raring to go by March. As per my message over Xmas, I've been planning on giving you a ring to catch up properly. I'll text you tomorrow to find a good time.

Nice to see a good report and success story lead to good conversation on the ins and outs of it. I hope your car wasn't parked too far away J!

Well done J, brilliant result!!!!!!!!
-
Haha brilliant! Was it a good holiday?

Good going, well done guys.

Sorry to hear about your mothers passing. I hope you and the family are ok mate. Very insensitive cock up by the NHS.

I'm sticking with it because it was described as "the next Game of Thrones" but after two episodes still don't have a clue whats going on or whether there is even a clear story line.

There is a private GP and Physio on the ground floor of my office building. It's part of a wider chain.
It costs £75 a visit for a non member patient to walk in (which is extortionate but plenty seem to do it).
However, a benefit of work is that they subsidise it for all staff and for £100 for the year I can have unlimited visits.
Money well spent in my opinion. Living in London and trying to see an NHS GP takes weeks.

Good report, great part of the country to zip around looking for pigeons in. Glad you found some.

Very well written report and pictures! Sounds like a really good day. Good shooting guys.

Very sad news and sorry to hear it. It's the worst thing to hold a dog you love while they put him to sleep but you did the right thing being there with him.

I had a Rotty called Troy from a puppy, not security trained but a totally natural guard dog. Any noise or person coming to the house and he would be there, he would always sit in a spot he could see as much of the house as possible and would always go to the front door with someone to answer it. If he felt threatened or that there was danger his tail (I didn't dock him) would go right up like a scorpions sting and he would growl until whatever it was had passed. He was good with kids and anyone he knew we had let in the house. He was a great dog.

Keep watching and Me Matt will be along shortly with another wild stab in the dark.
As you know OJW I don't know much about these things so I am still uncertain as to what the plant is. My own wild stab is that it is a hybrid of some sort with Spanish bluebell as one of the parents.
Haha ok, I will wait and see! I hope you find out because I spent ages googling "flower that looks like a bluebell" in vain.

Well done!! Lots of miles and recon over the past few weeks paid off!

So what was it?

Very sorry to hear about both of your injuries, I hope you make a full recovery. What a shocking story.

Good report. How did you catch the rat?

Sounds like a great day chaps!

Well done Sam, good write up.
It sounds like you have noticed a few little tweaks you can implement to improve your next bag on top of having some good birds on this outing.
Good luck.
Giving up. DO IT NOW.

Thanks! Still going strong. No temptation to go back to it at all. Can't stand the smell now.
