  1. To import from Italy is simple, you need to have your licence with you, buy the gun in plenty of time before your return travel, because the seller needs to get a permit from the police for it to leave the country.

I have done this a number of times, it can take a week to get the permit. Once the seller has it, they will enter it on your licence, then off you go, it will not be on your efp, as only the police in the UK can enter a gun on it. If you travel via the Turin tunnel its easier than through Switzerland.

Your other option is to get it shipped to an RFD, they would need to email a copy of the dealer ticket to the seller, again the licence is aquired, then the gun would come on the weekly roadtrain, to a central hub in Birmingham then TNT to the Dealer.

Inform the ferry company or train etc. its a simple operation.

As Phil says Piovanelli does this everyday, they are not the cheapest, but have a good selection, but if you want something a bit special I use a couple of other Dealers....

  2. Been a Perazzi shooter for lots and lots of years.... probably 20+ different guns

Had numerous Beretta's, of your choice DT11 everytime....

If you had said nice MX8 SC3 or SC0 different story, but the fixed action doesnt float my boat and the 11 is so smooth to shoot.....

  3. Not a bad gun, but not at that money. I imported a few Mach3's about 8 years back, they were a lot cheaper than that, never gave any problems though.

They gave one to Bob Braithwaite in the early 80's, he shot it well, it was sold at Holts last year, along with his Brownings, if it was around £1200 that would be not silly money.

  4. I make stocks, am based in Cumbria, do lots of fitting and alterations and mtm custom stocks.

If you like I can talk you through what I offer and do.

One thing I do, is make an undersize stock for your gun, then when we meet I build up and alter this stock until it is a perfect fit, using pattern plate and shooting it. This is done and tweeeked until exactly as you want, then from this I can make an exact copy of this stock from a blank of your choice, then its a case of shoot it in the white, then if all good it gets finished and mailed to you unless you want to collect.

  5. With rottenstone, dip your atch in linseed oil or water as a lubricant, then in the powder, only rub in single direction with the grain, this stuff will cut through the laquer to bare wood in no time, so be very careful, keep the cloth damp with your lubricant of choice and use the powder sparingly.

Dont mix it, dont rub in circular motions or you are creating more work, look at guitar finshers and scratch repairs on you tube and the like, they put on a great finish and also will show you how to repair scratches and deep ones at that.

  6. Go to Val Trompia, plenty of aftermarket engravers up most streets, seen a good number of MX8's turned into SC3's and SC0's, only Perazzi could tell the difference.

Have a look at http://www.tognazzi.net/ He engraves a lot, and will gold inlay your name in the trigger guard in less than 2 hours for around 85E. But I would head to Italy for getting a gun engraved, that many doing it, it keeps the price sensible.
