  1. I bought a very cheap O/U a few months ago but the intention of restoring it as it was a little worse for wear and needed some TLC. Today I made a start on the forend, Removing the old varnish using Nitromors.

This is how it started off

I left it to soak for 30 minutes and then started to remove the old varnish. Going against advice I'd seen I used a scrapper and VERY gently scrapped the old varnish, once majority of it was gone I moved onto using wire wool, First a medium and smooth. I then brought it inside and used a wet towl and the iron to remove and knocks in the wood. Once this was done I rubbed it down using 1200 and 2500 grit sand paper to make it nice and smooth.

Tomorrow I'm going to make a start on the stock doing the same process.

    Any advice welcome

  2. I'm now getting about to start getting into reloading and I've been looking at the MEC 600. I've dome a bit of homework and I've found mixed reviews on here,YouTube etc but some of these were quite dated.

what are people views of them? I am looking to reload steel at some point so I'm also after advice on how easy it is to change bits in order to allow it to reload steel.

Any comments on other presses that are considered better for a beginner reloader are also welcome.

    Cheers
