Maybe your being a little harsh on the chap. It's quite obvious he got his numbers wrong with regards the fps of said rifle. He also stated that the rifle is standard. If that is the case like others have pointed out who have also owned one of the said rifles and have quite clearly stated that in standard form the rifle will in no uncertain terms get near the legal limit let alone go beyond it. With that in mind it's also quite possible that the 60 yards quoted is also way off the mark.

 

Also as I pointed out there is no law broken regarding shooting a pheasant with an air rifle what so ever. As long as the basic rules have been followed. He has permission to shoot on the land and does not shoot them on a Sunday. Competency with the rifle and a limit on ranges and common sense go without saying.

Thank you very much, i have obviously got my numbers mixed and read up wrong information but it surely cannot be my fault that ive said wrong if ive been wrongly informed, i read something that was wrong and so forwarded the wrong information onto yall which is obviosly not the best thing a new member could do. Apologies to all that got involved and told me the right info but as far as im aware and i know for a fact that my rifle is 12ft/lb, whether its 1000 fps is stilla mystery to me. Thanks for all of your guys facts and opinions but could we get back on the topic of where i could get permissions on farm land where there is a high population of pest like pigeons and rabbits to shoot, thanks.

What's so wrong about shooting a pheasant with an air rifle ? As long as it's in season. It's not a Sunday and all shooting ranges are kept to a minimum. You have a full power 12ft lbs rifle And you have permission to shoot on the land. If it's just the odd one for the pot where's the problem ?

I dont understand what all this is about, i explained what i had read about my rifle, i have said what i was able to kill during season, and people are conplaining about my rifle and the kills?

Am I missing something here? If it's putting out 11.something ft/lb then velocity is nowhere near 1000 fps unless you are using felt pellets. The Shadow is also a budget gun that is spring powered not gas ram unless someone has been tinkering but why would you - the Ram would be worth more than the gun. Don't want to insult your gun but it would be more suited to plinking than serious hunting in my humble opinion.

Well acording 2 the site i brought it from and another site, its gas ram but if you have more experience than me id have to listen so it may not be but its most definetly 12ft/lb full power. However i must say its put wholes in a few hard materials and can definetly kill pigeons and phesants from past exeriences i know that. Thanks for letting me know it may not be gas ram, dont even know my own gun. That quite embarressing 😂

You would be lucky mine was about 10 and a half when I got it. Again, supposed to be 1000 with gamos special pellets... what a load of **** now stripped, cleaned and polished is at 11.3 foot pounds and will shoot an inch at 35. Hope you get some land and make sure you can hit a target reliably every time ehh.

Sounds like a good rifle still though mate, and yhe when they say 1000 they really mean 800-900 😂 Ive done some more research and found out that my rifle is full powered 12ft/lbs Gas Ram 😬 Think i should proberably be careful with it 😂 But i do want to look into a road trip to america so i can hunt some bigger game

As far as im aware, yes, its supposed to fire 1000fps, whether it actually does or not is another story 😂

So is your gamo standard or have you had it tuned to get 1000 fps. What sort of accuracy are you getting ?

The gun comes 1000fps stardard other than the scope the gun is untouched, and the accuracy is actually increadable, ive hit a pigeon from a good 50 yards without any problems however luck might have been on hand haha, but it is a nice rifle. But it be my first rifle so im not to skilled and wouldn't try shooting from any further than 60yrds

How did you get your fac for a section 1 air rifle if you dn't have land to shoot over ?

Fully understood pal, will go ahead and update my profile shortly, for now though i can tell you im currently shooting a Gamo Shadow Dx.22 1000fps, 6x40 scope, for a first rifle its pretty decent

Dont suppose anybody knows of any good spots in Milton Keynes to pick of some rabbit and pigeons? Was looking at finding a farm to get permission to shoot there? Any suggestions???
