Hey! Just wondering if anyone's heading to the British Shooting Show next week? I might not make it myself but really need to chat with the Beds/Herts/Cambs FEO folks. Bit puzzled because reddit post about people who applied months after me already getting their interviews. Makes me think different counties might be working through their backlogs at different speeds. I've tried emailing them about it but no luck getting answers. Would be great if someone could ask them about this in person and about current backlog size in general!

Is it a new way to prioritize items in their backlog? I'm surprised that they started to ask such questions, when you need to provide that info in your application form anyway.

Thank you for the link. I counted the total number of processed renewals. It is only 1076, when we were told back in June, that their renewals backlog is 1350. Looks like they won't start processing new grants any time soon 🥲

Nope 😞 I hope they can onboard six new officers by Christmas, who will then be able to clear the backlog within six months. Therefore, I need to accept that for the next year, I will only be able to practice shooting with instructors 🥲

At least that's reassuring. I saw advertisements for job openings in the Beds, Cambs, and Herts departments and was worried there might not be enough staff to handle everything. I'm still unsure if it's even possible to get a new license in this county. It seems like it might be quicker to move to Lincolnshire temporarily, get the license there, and then come back to Cambridge...

I have been today to show. Tried to ask them about wait times. The answer was as usual, that they can't provide any info, but average should be 6 months. I think 6 months is somewhat too optimistic. Curious what they will tell you.

Need to find a volunteer to cover my work oncall on the day of the trip. It is hard for weekends, but maybe worth trying to get a day off for Friday... Is there any difference in visiting on Friday or on weekends? I heard about similar shows in Italy, that the first day is only for bloggers/newsagents and dealers company. Is it the same here?

Hi Matt95, It would be wonderful! I was thinking to visit British Shooting show too, but seems it won't be possible this year.
