  1. Will do, how should I contact you? email? like wise vic, if going up will let you know in advance, will be going regular soon but just a little tied up soon, i took single barrel up purbeck club and hit around 50% of clays, took o/u up later and glad no one was watchin as missed a fair few but still enjoyed the day i would like to get some more practice in and basically get a good feel for the guns that we own. stands 1 to 5 i think we used at the school, keeping things simple at the moment. used to shoot on lulworth ranges regular wich was brilliant but since leaving the forces i have lost that entitlement We sound about evenly matched, I'll give you a shout before I go next, probably Friday or Saturday next week

  3. hiya mate, do you have any shooting ground and what do you shoot with, i am fairly local but at present do not have shooting ground No shooting ground, Berretta Silver Pigeon S. I've been going to the Purbeck School of Shooting ground for lessons and independant sessions. I need to find a few people to shoot with, my son (4) is pretty unreliable with the trap release, although it does make things a bit more sporting! we sometimes shoot at purbeck shooting school, not bad there is it, in fact only this weekend just gone i bought a shotgun from them... my new master s/s and well impressed vic are you a serious shooter or just shoot for a bit of fun if you dont mind me asking, we do not shoot often due to other comittments, if i had my way i would shoot every weekend and ideally on land rather than clay school. I wouldn't class myself as a serious shooter, I'm sort of getting back to my youth, except I could never hit anything when I was younger. What a difference proffessional lessons make. I'd quite like to get into a bit of rough shooting for the pot. I bought my Berretta from the school. I've not managed the full course yet in one go, but have shot most of the stands. Do you fancy meeting up in a couple of weeks or so? I'm fully booked this weekend. Vic

  6. Hi Posted a few topics before xmas. Just got my licence and a gun, all I need is people to shoot with (clays and quarry). Vic
  7. Big Irish I was in a similar position about 8 weeks ago and have just got a second hand Berratta Silver Pigeon, which I really like. I had shot brownings up to that point but found them too heavy and big (probably not a problem for you!) the move to the Berratta was a revelation I was hitting a lot more clays, I also found the lighter cartridge loadings helped. I think the key bit of advice is get some decent lessons, I've had about 7 hours and went round the local clay course today and was hitting as many (if not more) than some of the old boys who had been shooting for years. I might have done better still if my 4 year old wasn't as irratic on the trap controls!!!
  8. Where abouts in France? I'm pretty keen on my Plongee speliogic and the dordogne (my spelling is rubbish) is a pretty good area for it. All contacts in france are worth knowing. Vic
  9. Tom I've also heard that John March is pretty good. I'll check him out . Vic
  10. Thanks for the replys. I think I'm going for the silver pigeon, seems to fit fit me and I think I reached that epiphany that the "gun" can't make me a better shot, if my technique is pants. Hoping to get a few rounds in, keep a few lessons on the go to keep the constructive critism going and maybe join a rough shooting syndicate. Should have the license and gun by the end of next week. And Steve (my instructor) if you're watching (you probably are) I do appreciate the lessons. Vic
  11. I had started to drop of myself last week. Good to see a couple of responses form the Area. I've even been spotted by my instructor! Had another lesson today and things seem to be coming together. License about to arrive (according to the constabulary) so I should be able to show my face in public soon. Vic
  12. Thanks for the replies. No responses from dorset yet, they must be hibernating! Vic
  13. New to the forum, not shot a pigeon in 20 years, but willing to make up for lost time. Currently waiting for my license to arrive and itching to buy my first gun! any advice gratefully recieved. Vic - Bournemouth.
  14. Just started shooting and I'm looking to buy my first gun, probably a Berretta (silver pigeon? although I prefer the look of the white onxy, I'm not sure I need a multichoke). I've been having lessons at the Purbeck school of shooting which have been good and they've shown me a second hand multi choke silver pigeon (£850) which to my untrained eye looked brand new. This still seems a bit pricey given I've seen new fixed choked versions at £900! Any thoughts? Given, I'm a bit clueless at the moment are there any other good gun suppliers in the area? I've been to Lambert and Wiltshire in Ringwood and spoke to Geoff, who seemed to talk sense re buying a berretta and it holding its value etc. In essence, I'd like to buy locally, have it fitted and have good after sales service. Any recommendations would be gratefully received. Could also do with some people to shoot with. Vic
