  1. With Squirrel season at last upon us here I had forgotten how bad Ruger triggers are. This gun has an after market kit installed (Volqurtson) and still broke--creepily--- at around 5#. I was determined not to suffer such a poor trigger and disassembled the trigger mechanism. I stoned the sear just enough to smooth it up, hoping to take the drag out, then went to work in earnest on the hammer with a small abrasive stone. I have no way to measure the amount of material removed or the depth remaining but suffice to say I stoned it quite a bit and tried and retried until I got the 3# break I was looking for. There are many you tube videos dealing with the subject and it is well worth the effort to undertake. There are exploded view shematics online as well for those without photographic memories.
