Evening all, This morning i got my first ever bird on the foreshore down on the wash. It has to of been the best experience of my shooting life so far. After a confidence bashing geese flight yesterday where i missed 2 geese i decided today, my 17th flight out, was gonna be my day. I hardly got any sleep last night thinking about what the morning may bring and when my alarm went off at 0330 i was quick to jump out of bed. A glance out the window showed a heavy mist and a steady breeze, wondering what effects the mist would have on the flight i thought, only one way to find out, foreshore here i come. Flask and gun in hand i jumped into the car and off i went. I got to the car park nice and early and had a steady stroll down the sea wall. The mist was so thick at this time i couldn't make anything out and ended up slipping down the bank a couple of times, laughing at myself as i dragged myself back up. i eventually made it out to my spot, poured a nice brew and waited, listening to the wind blowing through the grass. Before i knew it all i could here was zzzzzzzzzzzz. Last nights lack of sleep must of caught up with me! However the best sounding alarm i have ever heard soon woke me up "wink, wink". sitting looking into the eerie mist had a spooky exciting feel to it, catching slight glances of birds wizzing by at great speeds sent shivers down my back. I thought, not long and hopefully the geese will be up. Gazing into the distance 4 widgeon flew right over my head from behind scaring me half to death. ******!! flipping typical! I waited and waited, enjoying the morning call of a pheasent in the distance and watching the curlew dance around the sky. Well i thought, looks like its not my day, suppose i'd best pack up. Then, just as i was about to pack up whoosh another 4 widgeon, falling onto my back and swinging through i got a shot off and down it went. I could hardly contain myself, shouting out "you little dancer" i quickly ran off to retrieve the best duck ever. It took abit of finding but when i got it i was absolutley buzzing!!!!! It may only of been one little widgeon but it meant more than any pheasent or pigeon i've ever had! A big thank you to Oxfordfowler and Ayano3 for all there advice, for taking me out and showing me the ropes and for answering my constant barrage of questions Cheers Gents
