Well, I set off to go decoying this morning, I've not been out at all this week and decided to look for a decent flock and just take a chance. Anyway, nothing about and it started raining so I decided to go home, give the gun a real good strip and clean and possibly return after tea.
So, off with the barrel, forestock etc just like a normal clean and I decided I'd take the magazine off (franchi raptor btw) and clean inside it, I've only taken it off once since buying the gun and that was several years ago now. Typically, it didn't want to unscrew so I used a "baby boa" to grip it, carefully - it worked a treat but on putting everything back together it would appear I've squashed the tube and things now don't work, namely the plunger inside the tube that sits on the cartridges and the thing that slides on the outside of the tube (that the piston pushes to make ejection etc happen).
So, straight round to a guy I know who's a precision engineer, luckily he was working on a saturday - no chance, it's too thin to do anything with. He tried gently rolling it in a machine but it's not precise enough (it's for bending flat steel into a curve really) and we were worried about making it any worse. He also said because it's so thin, it would be near impossible to make a replacement.
Sooo, anyone know where I can buy a replacement?
