  1. PLEASE CONTACT THE OWNER JOHN DUNCKLEY ON 07774197411 28 guns came to Redbournbury for the shoot on Saturday 31/08/2019. John tells me that he had a number of comments from those that attended saying how much they enjoyed the stands that made up this latest shoot. Not everyone turns up for the 12:30 start now, so the groups are more spread out and there is less queuing. Come on your own and join a group, you will receive a warm welcome. The ford remains low, not that there are usually many issues with it. But some people need reassuring. NEXT SHOOT 14/09/19 STARTS 12:30, last card 15:00. The shoots continue every 2nd Saturday right through the year. All shooters receive a mug listing the shoot dates for 2019. £16 for a 60 bird Sporting Clay shoot. £13 for a second round. SGC required. NOTE: Fibre wad cartridges only, max shot size 7. Cartridges are available for £5:00 / box of 25. Can be bought in bulk (£50/250)(£200/1000) if stocks allow. Shoot starts at 12:30, currently last ticket is 16:00. (Last ticket time extends to 16:00 with the daylight hours increased through Spring/Summer). Safety Equipment must be worn: Hat, Safety Glasses, Ear Defenders. Semi-automatic Shotguns: If not carried in a slip, a breech flag MUST be used. Only 2 cartridges are to be loaded when the gun is in use. Safety Tape: Tape is used to mark off all areas where shooters MUST not cross. To do so could result in them being hit by other shooters. Obey The Horn: Sounded when walkers are seen on the far footpath. Guns must stop shooting until the walkers are clear and the All Clear is sounded. The shoot is held over 6 Stands offering a variety of targets, using Standard, Midi, Rabbit and Battue clays and are shaped by the features of the scenic ground. No two shoots are the same. The site is on a flood plain, so if it rains or has rained, can be wet and muddy underfoot, walking/hunting/welly boots are advised. Tea and coffee is included on the ticket. Full English Breakfast Bowls, Bacon rolls, Doughnuts, Chocolate and Soft Drinks are available for purchase. Ample parking. WC. The site is best approached from the Harpenden to St Albans Road (A1081) via Beesonend Lane. Follow the Brown Fishery and Black and White Shoot signs down the lane for 1 mile. At the ford turn right and continue along the lane to the site. The short length of ford to drive through is only inches deep. The fishermen that come to the site never have any problems. 13/14 days the site functions as a day ticket fishery for Trout (Lake 1 and R.Ver) and Mixed Coarse Fishery (Lake 2). Want to try fly fishing for trout or coarse fishing for carp, tench, barbel, chub, bream, perch, roach and rudd? Taster sessions can be arranged. Lake and Chalk Stream Trout fishing for £15!!! Brown Trout to 4lb in the river (catch and release only). Note: The Brown Trout River Season is now OPEN until October 2019. See the newly updated Redbournbury Fishery and Sporting Clay website and our Facebook posts. Attached is ShotKam video footage of the Six Stands from the 31/08/19 shoot.

  3. PLEASE CONTACT THE OWNER JOHN DUNCKLEY ON 07774197411 25 guns came to Redbournbury for the shoot on Saturday 25/05/2019, which was an improvement on the shoot held two weeks previously. 4. PLEASE CONTACT THE OWNER JOHN DUNCKLEY ON 07774197411 Only 18 guns came to Redbournbury for the shoot on Saturday 27/04/2019, possibly falling victim to the poor weather forecast, with Storm Hannah due. Several of those that did attend said how much they enjoyed the stands that made up this shoot. 5. PLEASE CONTACT THE OWNER JOHN DUNCKLEY ON 07774197411 20+ guns came to Redbournbury for the shoot on Saturday 13/04/2019, which was disappointing given the nice weather. The shoot was harder than the previous one, where shooters had said it was easy. In my group totals were down by about 10. 6. 34 guns came to Redbournbury for the shoot on Saturday 30/03/2019. The overcast weather helped with visualising the targets, bright sunshine never helps. We are seeing more and more new faces as a result of word of mouth recommendations. All say it is an enjoyable and friendly shoot. If you have no-one to come with, there is always a group to join to take you around the ground. 7. Only 17 guns braved the conditions to come to Redbournbury for the shoot on Saturday 16/03/2019. The rain held off but the high, blustery wind affected many of the targets, especially those going away in to the wind and those coming in on the wind. Consistent targets were not the name of the day. Shot totals were affected but it was one of those days where you had to accept this wasn't the time to post your personal best score. We are seeing more and more new faces as a result of word of mouth recommendations. All say it is an enjoyable and friendly shoot. If you have no-one to come with, there is always a group to join to take you around the ground. 8. 25 guns came to Redbournbury for the shoot on Saturday 02/03/2019. The day was mild and mostly cloudy, which helped with visualising the targets. 10. Despite the snow, 24 guns came to Redbournbury for the shoot on Saturday 02/02/2019. The snow wasn't a big problem, it was the bright sunshine on some of the stands that interfered with seeing some of the clays. If you got the line of the clay right and swung the gun through, you could still hit the clays going past the sun. We are seeing more and more new faces as a result of word of mouth recommendations. All say it is an enjoyable and friendly shoot. If you have no-one to come with, there is always a group to join to take you around the ground. 11. 37 guns came to the shoot at Redbournbury held on 19/01/19. It is muddy underfoot (not helped by the digging of a third lake) but shooters know what the ground can be like at this time of year and come prepared. We are seeing more and more new faces as a result of word of mouth recommendations. All say it is an enjoyable and friendly shoot. If you have no-one to come with, there is always a group to join to take you around the ground. Not everyone turns up for the 12:30 start now, so the groups are more spread out and there is less queuing. Now we can start looking forward to the days getting longer. The ford remains low, not that there are usually many issues with it. But some people need reassuring. NEXT SHOOT 02/02/19 STARTS 12:30, last card 15:00. The shoots will continue to be held every 2nd Saturday right through the year. 14. "Twas the shoot before Christmas And all round the ground 41 guns could be heard Was this their best round?" 41 guns came to the 22/12/18 shoot at Redbournbury. Evidence that the novelty of shopping for presents had more than worn thin. It was muddy underfoot but shooters know this and come prepared. Not everyone turns up for the 12:30 start now, so the groups are more spread out and there is less queuing. However the nights are drawing in, so don't leave it too late. The ford remains low, not that there are usually many issues with it. But some people need reassuring. NEXT SHOOT 29/12/18 STARTS 12:30, last card 15:00. 15. On Saturday 08th December 2018 only 18 guns turned up to shoot. After recent rain it was pretty muddy underfoot in places, so always bring your boots. We are hoping that all the Christmas shopping will be done by the next shoot to be held on 22/12/18. There is then a Christmas Shoot being held on 29/12/18. Not everyone turns up for the 12:30 start now, so the groups are more spread out and there is less queuing. However the nights are drawing in, so don't leave it too late. 16. On Saturday 24th November 2018 the weather conspired to dampen the afternoon somewhat. After recent rain it was pretty muddy underfoot in places, so always bring your boots. Numbers shooting were down, probably with Christmas fast approaching, there was a lot of shopping to be dragged out too. Hopefully priorities will win through for the next shoot. Not everyone turns up for the 12:30 start now, so the groups are more spread out and there is less queuing. However the nights are drawing in, so don't leave it too late. 17. On Saturday 10th November 2018 the weather conspired to dampen the afternoon somewhat. OK the sun became less of a problem but the deluge was a poor substitute. 23 guns turned up to shoot and again the six stands were well received. Newer faces were more evident than the old reliable ones. They will be back when they have the time. So it bodes well for future shoots.. Not everyone turns up for the 12:30 start now, so the groups are more spread out and there is less queuing. However the nights are drawing in, so don't leave it too late. The ford remains low, not that there are usually many issues with it. But some people need reassuring. 18. On Saturday 27th October 2018 there was bright sunshine up until 30 minutes before the shoot started. This is never helpful as the shooting area faces west. Suddenly a bank of cloud appeared and the potential problem went away. 35 guns turned up to shoot and many said that they enjoyed the challenge of the six stands. There were quite a few new faces on the day which is encouraging. Not everyone turns up for the 12:30 start now, so the groups are more spread out and there is less queuing. The lack of rain is also keeping the ford low, not that there are usually many issues with it if it gets higher. But some people need reassuring. NEXT SHOOT 10/11/18 STARTS 12:30 The shoots will continue to be held every 2nd Saturday right through the year. 19. GET SOME MUCH NEEDED PRACTICE IN READINESS FOR THE NEW GAME SEASON. On Saturday 29th September 2018 we had another bright, sunny day, although the wind was a bit gusty at times. 39 guns turned up to shoot and enjoyed the challenge of the six stands. The site is on a flood plane, so can be wet and muddy underfoot, walking/hunting/welly boots are advised. Want to try fly fishing for trout or coarse fishing for carp, tench, chub, bream, perch, roach and rudd? Taster sessions can be arranged. Lake and Chalk Stream Trout fishing for £15!!! 21. GET SOME MUCH NEEDED PRACTICE IN READY FOR THE NEXT GAME SEASON. Saturday 18th August 2018 was thankfully less hot than previous shoots, but the wind was very blustery which had its affect on some of the targets. Only 25 guns turned up to shoot, summer holidays obviously impacting on the numbers able to attend. On the other hand some of the new faces are now becoming regulars. Not everyone turns up for the 12:30 start now, so the groups are more spread out and there is less queuing. The lack of rain is also keeping the ford low, not that there are usually many issues with it if it gets higher. But some people need reassuring. NEXT SHOOT 01/09/18 STARTS 12:30 The shoots will continue to be held every 2nd Saturday right through the year. New shooters will receive a mug listing the shoot dates for 2018 (if there are still any left). Shoot starts at 12:30, currently last ticket is 15:00. The shoot is held over 6 Stands offering a variety of targets, using Standard, Midi, Rabbit and Battue clays and are shaped by the features of the scenic ground. No two shoots are the same. 22. Saturday 04th August 2018 was again a challenge in the hot sunshine. Especially during the delay while the ceased trap on the tower was repaired. But repaired it was to continue throwing a nice high bird. Only 25 guns turned up to shoot, again some of the regulars were noticeable by their absence. On the other hand some of the new faces are now becoming regulars. Not everyone turns up for the 12:30 start now, so the groups are more spread out and there is less queuing. The lack of rain is also keeping the ford low, not that there are usually many issues with it if it gets higher. But some people need reassuring. 23. Saturday 07th July 2018 was another fantastic day for a shoot and thankfully NOT a Penalty Shoot Out. By the time of Redbournbury's next shoot " It will be all over!" Just over 30 guns turned up to shoot and they did just that "Paid, shot and Left" the footy was calling, down the pub no doubt. The work done by the Friends of the River Ver has seen the ford continue to be no deeper than a couple of inches deep. Work on reducing the potholes in the lane has paid off, although the mettled part of the lane is now showing increasing signs of wear and tear. NEXT SHOOT 21/07/18 STARTS 12:30 The shoots will continue to be held every 2nd Saturday right through the year. New shooters will receive a mug listing the shoot dates for 2018 (if there are still any left). £16 for a 60 bird Sporting Clay shoot. £13 for a second round. SGC required. 24. Saturday 09th June turned out to be a fantastic day for a shoot. At this time of year the sun is high enough on most of the stands as not to be an issue . A total of 25 guns turned up for the shoot, a fair number down on the previous shoot. We all suffer with our responsibilities and demands on our time. We try hard to vary the targets each shoot and try to use the ground to produce a challenging shoot. There was certainly a mix of challenging targets, my scorecard is evidence of that. The work done by the Friends of the River Ver has seen the ford continue to be no deeper than a couple of inches deep. Work on reducing the potholes and puddles in the lane is starting to pay off, although the mettled part of the lane is now showing increasing signs of wear and tear. NEXT SHOOT 23/06/18 STARTS 12:30 The shoots will continue to be held every 2nd Saturday right through the year. New shooters will receive a mug listing the shoot dates for 2018 (if there are still any left). £16 for a 60 bird Sporting Clay shoot. £13 for a second round. SGC required. SAFETY NOTICE - A shooter suffered what appears to have been a choke deforming and blocking the barrel. The barrel ended up with a bulge and part of the rib loose. Always check your barrels are "EMPTY" before you reload.
  25. The day started damp but by the start time the sun was out and it got hot. As the shooters finished there was a run on tea/coffee, canned drinks and squash. A total of 35 guns turned up for the shoot. Not bad for a Bank Holiday and with the Herts Show just down the road. We try hard to vary the targets each shoot and try to use the ground to produce a challenging shoot. I didn't think the shoot was too taxing but even some of the good shots were reluctant to reveal their totals. The work done by the Friends of the River Ver has seen the ford continue to be no deeper than a couple of inches deep. Work on reducing the potholes and puddles in the lane is starting to pay off, although the mettled part of the lane is now showing increasing signs of wear and tear.
