David BASC
Dear all As you know a couple of gulls came off the Open General Licence. Some on here may well need, or know someone who needs to cull gulls. Especially upland ‘keepers for example. For all those who still need to control them, you can, and indeed MUST apply for a licence NOW so they can carry on control as you will no longer be able to do so under open general licence. BASC have just been speaking with NE and they promise to do all they can for keepers etc who still need to cull gulls to protect grouse, partridge etc. If you apply NOW you should be able to carry on controlling under licence from Jan 1st, the OGL runs out in December http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/ourwork/r...ionforms.aspx#6 To apply for gulls to protect other wild birds he should scroll down to the section on ‘Other birds - without special protection’ One application form would cover public health and safety issues, the other conservation issues. If you are in Scotland or Wales or the same system should be in place the the Assembly or SNH for example, David
