HI

I was just wondering if anyone actually had one of these as their shoting/wildfowling dog.

Been reading a bit about them and how they were bred for retrieving ducks etc.

Im getting more and more into my Wildfowling and i presently have Springers which come Pheasant and Pigeon shooting with me but wondered if the Tollers would be an idea dog at looking to get for the Wildfowling...

Cheers

Alas, your header left out the most consequential part of the breed's name: ...duck tolling...

Without that descriptor, if you're asking about a Nova Scotia retriever, you would want a Lab or Chessie or even an imported Boykin spaniel

which is the nonpareil amongst spaniels worked at retrieving.

A toller is... well, if you've never trained a retriever before, the toller ain't a very good choice to start with. If you want a toller as good company for your spaniels, as a flushing dog that will seldom encounter water, a better choice. I've addressed it for you in the adjacent thread with a link to some frank assessments of tollers by folk who've had them (and invariably turned to Labs "when the rubber hits the road").
