Guest
Now I actually have my first shotty and rifle, and that I've been thinking about it a long time - can anyone recommend good gun smithing or history books? The odd bit of advice from the chaps at the range is all good, as is poring over posts here, but something for the shelf, and not reliant on my memory would be nice. The US books are okay, but a lot of them are bench rifle or military / pistol related, I'm not really interested in the former and can't do the latter so no point there. And then there's the tactical this and sniper that kind of book which again is no good or no interest. I'm looking for old fashioned skill and knowledge, not just a retelling facts and figures. It seems there is a resurgence in traditional skills for hobby or career like blacksmithing, carpentry etc etc - Despite having looked, I can find no part time / evening classes on gun smithing. If anyone, with a shop or not is willing to pass on some hands on skills and knowledge I can trade help with IT, tidying up, DIY and tea making for the odd evening or weekend day. I mean, how do you get to become an RFD / sales / repair & modification assistant these days? (see my about me page) Cheers, Rich
JT1
I think there are some links in the back of Lewis Potters book, also you may consider contacting Diggory Haddoke on the gunmart site.
