daft dog Posted February 5, 2010 Report Share Posted February 5, 2010 All I know its not considered good form to ask out right for shooting ground (esp as i'm new to the site ), but as they say....you don't ask you don't get. Basically i'm looking for some ground to bag a few for the pot (bunnies, pigeon etc) and also to help me train my idiot black lab. He's got a cracking nose, a soft mouth but he's very head strong, stubborn and its all too new to him (he's been picking up three days this season on a walk one stand one) so he's mega excited and unless he get used to it all he's going to be a nightmare in the future. I'd like to get him used to just sitting next to me, without pulling, trying to run in or whining....i'm pretty sure (having had him for nearly 2 years now) that this will be just the trick for him but i need to do this in our own time, without the pressures of a "shoot day". He's got so much potencial, i don't want it to go to waste (its a shame i'm not a proper trainer...he could have been excellent...just a stubborn sod, albeit a lovable one ). anything within 45 mins of Winchester considered. That said i'm also more than up for helping out with manageing pigeon, vermin and deer if its required, i'm with FAC and insureance (BASC). Quite happy to start as a lamp man. Or willing to provide some labour in return, i'm a handy fella although not really qualified in anything (but dare i say it i'm quite good at plastering ....its not my favourite pastime though...) Also, would like to consider a place in a syndicate for next season on a rough shoot if anyone has any contacts..... A little more about me if you've not seen my intro...i'm BASC insured, SGC (20b and 12b O/U) and FAC (.22lr & 6.5x55 for deer and fox). Unfortunalty my FAC is still "closed" so all land would need to be cleared for the relavent calibre. I also have an air rifle, although this hasn't been used for 10 years . Been shooting since i was 14, i'm now 29, very safe and respect all landowners requests/livestock. Anyway, any thoughts people, please PM me. It'll be appreciated.
