rem700
I have a new Browning 525. When I wipe the barrel over with a clean oily cloth I have a red rusty stain left on the cloth. I have been back to the gun shop and they say that this is ok. They say it is the blueing. Now I know that blueing is controlled corrosion but none of my other guns does this. I put the gun away nicely oiled but the next day when it is wiped I get rust marks. I am using VP90 packs now. Any ideas out there please. Windknot
This is typical on new guns. I had this on both a new Bettinsoli and a new Miroku. Slight reddish-brown stain on the cloth, right?

Silhouette
I only use silicone oil to wipe over my guns and have never experienced your problem. Worth giving it a try. Edited March 2, 2010 by Silhouette
