BESS7003
Hello everone, Just thought i would let people know about this torch, firstly it is the brightest torch i have ever used, but i have loads of problems with it. First of all the pressure switch failed so had to use the other switch which is supplied with the kit, All was fine until one frosty evening i went out and it wouldn't switch on properly it kept on flicking straight off every time i tried to turn it on, went back in doors and it worked fine, so i soon found out that it was caused by cold weather. Called cluson several times and spoke to them about the problem. They have now tested other torches that they have in stock and found out that they too have problems so have offered me a refund. What good is a torch that you can only use when it is warm weather,so if you have one of these torches put it in freezer for 5 minutes and see what happens or go out on a frosty night, what a let down when it is one of the most expensive torches on the market. Just thought i would share my disappointment with you all. Wonder if the will be having a recall of all there Master-Lite Supreme torches !!! Thanks Jim Edited March 3, 2010 by BESS7003
gj2211
Yup same here, what a disappointment. Just taken mine out,bit chilly and just turns itself off as soon as switched on. Not really what you would expect from such an expensive product. Will be on the 'phone 9am tomorrow!

gj2211
Jim, Yes apparently the rechargeable batteries loose power in the cold.Because the LED is either on or off (ie doesn't dim with a voltage drop but turns off) it either works or it doesn't! Cluson did promise me a gesture of some non rechargeable batteries to prove this to me but so far (a couple of weeks) nothing in the post. It is incredibly bright (maybe too bright sometimes) and really compact so on balance I'm happy with the product. I've found a bit of lagging around the torch keeps it warm for longer and it hasn't failed when wrapped up! Don't look at it when you are out lamping.......can feel your retinas burning! I'd get some filters with it too. ATB, Greg...
