jackinbox99
Hi I want to get the stock off my old spanish sabel sbs and from what I understand you need to undo the floorplate screw as the stock goes into the bottom of the action and the triggers go through the stock at that point. Now, the gun is 38 years old, and from what I can see the floor plate screw on the bottom of the action looks like its going to be a nightmare to undo. I`ll need a very thin, but broad screwdriver bit and I can imagine that the screw will be very tight having never been touched in 38 years. Any advice? (appart from the obvious "take it to a gunsmiths") Thanks Jack.
Browning GTS
Unless you have a set of turnscrews i think the gunsmiths is the best bet. Better then messing up your gun. Saying that to remove a hammer from one of my old guns i brought a good quality screwdriver and carefull thined the blade on a oilstone. Thats what i was figuring, getting an old screw driver on the grinder and making a really thin blade point on it. But, like you say, i dont want to mess the screw up else it would ruin the look of the gun.
Browning GTS
I would watch grinding if you heat it up the blade could go soft and bend in use thats why i done it slowly on a stone.
