Popgun
I've got a SX3 Winchester 3" proofed to 1370 to shoot steel shot i got some Gamebore 3" mamouth no3 shot which i used on inland duck they were ok but to be fair there was nothing over 35 yards, i need to find a long range load that will match lead i know this has been done to death but from what i understand from what i;ve read on here that speed is range so which loads in the UK are the fastest ones and i'm using invictor plus chokes i would like to use no2s for duck and BBs for Canadas is there a better choke than this, if i can't find what i'm looking for i'll have to start homeloading i've read all the post on here so i know some of you guys have cracked these problems thanks for any advice Popgun
UK fowler
all the 3" steel loads are a bit light for canadas the biggest shot size for cip loads is 4mm us1# some shops get there hands on some winchester or remi they do BB and BBB in a 3" .reloading gives you more choice but is still limited by room a 3" shell finished with a rto is best but they will not cycle you auto (to long) power shot or itx might put you back on track with the geese steel reloads are very good on the duck give you the edge on the longer range birds as for chokes i have a browning and the factory tubes are sh## i sent for a wad wizzard which i rate terror chokes are also highly rated by others pm any time
Guest cookoff013
as a dedicated goose cartridge, tungsten is best. but expensive. it is good as it is dense so you can shoot big loads. it doesnt need to be shot out at silly speeds. it is the best option in any gauge ! it handles greater distance too. without a doubt it is far superior to steel, you can use tungsten #4 on geese, it will knock them down. also in a 3" cartridge you can get lots of shot. so it isnt limp. buy a box of 10 to try them out. tungsten or an alloy of will be good. Guest topshot_2k
if you have to use steel then use Remington steel, its the best available. think i had 38g #1 last season
