I believe the idea behind it is that it gives the same effect as the spring but delivers it in a more consistent manner, which also happens to be smoother operating and gives less recoil.

So the benefits are a more consistent output that is smoother and less "boingy". Should be worth doing :thumbs:

just wondering what benefit fitting a gas ram to it would have oposed to the spring on my beesa lighning?

Give it up dude, just get yourself a nice S200, I jusy happen to know where there is a good one for sale for the right money. :lol:

anyone know if its possible to get a gas ram for a hw97k

I was looking for a gas ram for my 97k but no-one makes one, something to do with the sear design in the rifle itself. Because of this I fitted a webley venom spring and seal kit, it was a doddle to fit and anyone with a level of mechanical competence can manage it. I found a really good picture by picture web site for this very task you can see it here:

Once fitted it made a distinct improvement over the original spring which was possibly worn. The rifle lost the twang sound on firing and became noticably quieter. The seal was also replaced in this kit for a much better design from the original. I bought my rifle second hand from a friend and it was used when he got it. you can order the spring kit here:

You will need to check which model rifle you have as the piston size was increased for the MkII version of this rifle.
