Thestoat
Can anybody point me in the direction of a good book to learn more about rearing pheasants and a small shoot? Thanks in advance La Stoat

WGD
There's also a book called Modern Pheasant Rearing, I think Solway Feeders sell it - Google will give you the answer. I have it and it's pretty useful for reference.
hillmouse
The Game Conservancy green guides are excellent. The one entitled Pheasant Rearing (No surprises there then) will tell you all you need to know on the theory. It covers broodies, Ruperts and both small and large scale operations using both gas brooders and electric hens. Often seen on eBay. The Green Guides are a bit more detailed and up to date compared to the "Complete Book of Game Conservation" which is still an excellent read and well worth having too. hillmouse
Nope, thats not them. Try an eBay search.. enter game conservation and see a couple of copies of the Complete Book of............... enter Pheasant rearing and there is a very old copy of Pheasant Rearing on for a stupid price. Wait and get one for a tenner. Or try the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust shop and see if they still do them. The Golden Cockerel books on the same ebay page are well worth a look too.
