Manhattan63
Hi guys, I'm a noob here so go easy on me A friend of mine has some land which another friend runs a small syndicate on (mostly pheasant). I'm planning to build a fishing lake a bit further down the valley and the guy who runs the shoot immediately asked "can we have a duck shoot?". There are a couple of small ponds on the syndicate and we do put down some ducks, but the new addition would be 13.4 acres of water (primarily for fishing of course) and with the possibility of the ducks being put and fed on the water, I'm trying to weigh up the options. I'm all for there being a duck shoot, but if the current syndicate also drove around the lake, it would have to be shut fairly often during the season. This could be a pain if the lake is generating an income, or is indeed it's own syndicate available all year round. An alternative perhaps, would be to have a separate duck shoot on a limited number of days (when the lake would be closed to anglers), but I've no idea how popular 'duck only' days are. I guess that way it could also be managed as part of the fishery. It could be easier to simply NOT have a duck shoot, but I always try and please as many people as I can - often failing miserably! Any advice or experiences of things similar are appreciated.
soreshoulder
i go picking up on a shoot that does a similar thing but only a duck pond. They incorporate a duck drive into a days shooting which is most likely what the syndicate would do. Just gotta find out which days they would be shooting and close the lake then. If you could maybe ask them if they could shoot it first thing so that you can open the lake later on
