DoubleTap
Went around Wilstone Reservoir (Tring) this morning to walk the dogs with Dad. Half way round and I noticed I had the Camera in my pocket so decided to take a few pictures. Not very good quality on the ducks because it wasn't our good camera, just our camera for fishing and shooting. Our 7 month old Springer A picture through the Binoculars, not too good
DoubleTap
........more Mainly all Teal Wigeon, again through the Binoculars Wigeon, Teal, Shoveler, Mallard, Tufted, Pochard and a Female Scaup which is a rare visitor to the lake. Wouldnt have noticed it if the bird watchers didnt say. Couldn't tell it from a female Tufted through the binoculars without having a good look. 62 Greylags came round for a look however after a few circles they decided to go else where. DoubleTap
Normally, if were not doing anything on a sunday morning we have a walk around there to calm the dogs down a bit from the shoot on saturday. Also we have a few friends around the area with ponds so we do them a favour by seeing what is and isnt in and in what numbers and so on

RossEM
I think there's a duck shoot on the reservoir across the road from Wilstone, no idea who runs it though
Cam-S94
I think there's a duck shoot on the reservoir across the road from Wilstone, no idea who runs it though Used to be one on Wilstone itself, as well as Tringford, Marsworth and the other one just accross the road. Was shot by the Roschilds (excuse my spelling). Watched them shoot it one day, awesome to watch. Guns and loaders, and guns taking left and rights like there was no tomorrow. Also know someone that shot there once and they shot every species of duck. It used to be fed very heavily and used to attract thousands of duck. But now since they've stopped shooting and thus stopped feeding, there has been a massive decrease in waterfowl on there. Most noticable is the decline in geese. Still plenty of ducks visiting the ponds we shoot nearby though. Edited November 21, 2010 by Cam-S94

DoubleTap
I know this post is very old however just wanted to add that yesterday (sunday) we took a litle walk around again. About 400 Wigeon feeding on Winter Rape just over the hedge from the lake itself and as we walked along the bank the wigeon were still lifting off the FROZEN lake and dropping into the field. We carried on walking and they all lifted and headed towards us, splitting into to two groups eitherside of us.... That didnt stop Dad and I from having a few imaginary swings on them Excellent sight to see may I add, shame we didnt have the camera this time. All of them seemed very slim in flight due to the recent cold weather and lack of food, so we decided to move on and let them get back on the Rape and feed.
