Psyxologos
Thanks to a member of this forum who is a full member in Morecambe Bay wildfowlers (I am an associate) I was able to get my first widgeon on Friday morning. It was a cold, cold, COLD morning. Even the tide froze! Not much wind about, so things were more quiet than my mentor has hoped (I am still learning, so had no expectations). We did shoot two widgeon within the first hour, so I cannot complain! There was the opportunity for more, but I did not take the shot, I just was not confident enough. I thought I better not shoot unless I am 100% sure I have the right species and the right range. Towards the end another member of the club who was on the opposite shore of the river sent some ducks our way, but alas, I missed! All in all an a amazing day. I am truly greatfull for my mentor's expert advise, patience and help. Thank you for a wonderful, wonderful day's wildfowling. I cannot wait till the next time. I am truly hooked now! poontang
Thank you for a wonderful, wonderful day's wildfowling. I cannot wait till the next time. I am truly hooked now! Well done on your Wigeon Without doubt I'd say wildfowling is the best shooting to be had. It can be hard work, but when everything falls into place you just can't beat it. silver pigeon 3
I have started wildfowling this year aswell, and it IS the best shooting that you can get. The people i have met have been fantastic and every time i have gone out i have learnt loads, and also remembered how much i have to learn . I took my first Widgeon 2 weeks ago followed by my first mallard last week so that feeling it gives you is still very fresh in my mind. Well done and i am sure there will be plenty more to come
Psyxologos
Thanks guys. Yes, I took wildfowling last year, but did not even get a shot, as I was unlucky with no birds anywhere near me the three times I went out last year (as an associate I get three tickets). This year already I have wigdgeon and pinkfeet in my tally! Amazing feeling, and truly challenging shooting. Beats standing by a peg waiting for others to drive the birds to you hands down. In wildfowling you have to earn your quarry, not buy it in advance!

I am glad some people realise this, and well done on getting the widgeon
