Hi mate, does the mag index on the bolt or the trigger? The early R10's indexed on the trigger, the later models index on the bolt. Also, what colour is the air gauge, generally, the older models had white gauges with black numbering, whilst the later guns are fitted with black gauges with white numbering, although this is not a hard and fast rule as I have seen black gauges fitted on earlier models. The indexing method is your best bet in deciding if new or older model. If you ask BSA, they should be able to help with date of manufacture from your serial no. Hope this helps.
