Twistinggg

Recommended Posts

so i know rifles come with different twists in the barrel, quite simply, is a shorter twist e.g 1:8 better than a 1:12 if you are using heavy bullets? ... the heavier the bullet, ideally the lower the ratio you would want ?

and if so is this because it will take more torque to spin a heavier bullet in the barrel so you would need a shorter twist length and therefore more rotations in the barrel (of unit length) on the whole to get the bullet to rotate at the correct velocity for it to be accurate?

hopefully i didn't get that all wrong, i like to understand things is all :P

thanks watchers of pigeons :D
