Out on Sunday

Hi

I'm out trying my luck decoying over rape this Sunday. This will be my first try for 20 years after a break to do my thing in the forces.

Things have moved on a bit it seems since my last trip. Has anyone got any tips for me to try or advice on set ups etc.

I have just got one of them new-fangled magnets, a few full bodied and 1/2 shell deeks with a couple of hypa-flaps and a flapper (all from UKSW) with a couple of bouncers.

Any advice gratefully received.

Hi Johnnyb , theres loads of posts on here with everyones opinion on do's and don'ts, Best off me is visit the area first were you intend to decoy and watch the birds flighting over ? Half the battle won if you notice this happening and if the birds are feeding youve got it cracked ! Then all it takes is position your hide so you are discreet as possible (hedge row) take into account wind, sun, get the gest ? then place out the decs, common pattern a horseshoe with the leading birds faceing the direction into the wind.If youve done this correct the birds should land into the centre gap of the pattern, open pattern wider if this doesn't happen. (get them to go were you want them)If birds were down feeding then try and copy their patten. If your permission has multi rape fields also handy to make sum scarers (bambo stick with a carrier bag)place in the fields where you arent thus ticeing to your field, the list is endless ? Out with the magnet ! good for pulling birds over . Good home work a must and you'l find it on this site ! Hope this helps Happy shooting :good:
