vole
I am having difficulty trapping moles next to a river . I guess because it is a flood plain , the soil is very loose with runs difficult to locate ( I use a screwdriver ) . When I think I have set a half decent trap ,it rarely kills one . PS I use Duffus traps . Thanks for any info . I do ok with trapping most other areas but this one .

Hi vole, make sure there is no loose soil in the bottom of the run and in the entrance of the tunnels. When you set the trap make sure it sits snug and tight in the run so when you put soil on top of trap it doesn't fall back into the run and cant be moved by the mole.. Hope this helps fella.. vole
Thanks Martin , I will do my best . Got the idea of using a sharp bladed thing to cut the hole . I think the trowel is making a mess of the tunnels like you say .
