My dog has been diagnosed with a heart murmur a while ago.

Last month he had a cough and a runny nose that stopped him having his booster jab.

The vet gave him a course of antibiotics which seemed to clear up the cough but now it has returned. Is the cough related to his heart murmur?

I'm just after a bit of free advice really if I can pick your brains. As another trip to the vets and another bill is something i could do without!

My old Springer had a heart murmur pretty well all of her life and it didn't seem to slow her down or bother her, she did have a cough at times though which i'm sure (from my addled memory) the vet put down to this heart condition. Every time I took her to the vets I held my breath while he checked her ticker but it remained the same throughout her lifetime :good: If it's a low grade murmur I doubt it's anything to worry about if my old girl was anything to go by.

Cheers chaps looks like I may need to go back to the vets and get this cough cleared up. bloody dogs r more worry than kids lol

Yeah, if like most owners you care they can be a huge worry, seems some will cast 'em aside once they're out of use :/ Again, I am going by memory but i'm sure my springer's cough was a result of the heart murmur. She was on medication for her heart but the cough was an occasional thing which we/she learned to live with, like I said the murmur caused her no ill effects at all and she bombed 'round like a typical springer until something more sinister got her, the murmur stayed at more or less the same 'grade'........i'm sure your dog will be fine :good:
