Firearms Storage Question

Before I ask, I am sorry if this seems like a silly, amateur question. I am relatively new to the sport, especially the admin side of things, so go easy on me! :o

My question is this: in an application for either a SGC or a FAC, there is the inevitable section on 'where the firearms are to be stored'.

Is it possible (if it had been pre-arranged with the relevant parties) to put down the address of your shooting-club? If so, what are the repercussions for the home-visit/inspection/informal-interview-malarkey? If you later chose to install a gun-safe in your home, what would be the process of formally moving the guns to their new storage-space?

Why go to all the hassle? Is there somthing stopping you from keeping firearms at your home address? Are you sure your club would allow you to store firearms on the site? The club I go to does not allow firearms to be left on the premises. The club firearms are stored at the club secratary's home.

This was just a hypothetical scenario. I am pretty sure that my club would have something to say about me buying a gun and then just turning up and saying "oh, you're looking after this, by the way!"

It was just a thought I had whilst reading a guide on filling in a SGC/FAC application form: for the 'storage' section, it mentioned putting down the address of your club if you were going to keep your firearm(s) there.
