I have just Bought one i have not had it out in the field yet but have tried it at night in the street.

The new ones use a ccd type lens which gives a very clear picture i had a yukon shadow and that was very grainy the ranger i have used out to about 100yrds and i can see the Ariel on a house and its sharp as anything.

The IR that comes built in seems to be quite good but i can not see anyway of attaching another IR, i have been told they work great with a laser.

I am going out tommoorow night and will be able to tell you a bit more but so far i am very happy with my purchase. :good: :good:

Hi Guys well i went out last night with the Yukon Ranger apart from in the street this is the first time i have used it i have compered it to a yukon shadow which has 3 times mag with a 42mm lens.

Firstly to answer one question there is no way of adding extra IR

Taking the shadow first the focusing is ver similer and you move the front and reat lens until you get a clear picture which is green i would say at 100meters you can see the eyes of the fox but not body outline due to the fox staying close to the buildings.

Now on the Yukon ranger the focusing of the lens is still the same way moving the front an then the front lens which is shown on what i could only discribed as a small lcd screen but in black and white.

I took the ranger out to about 250meters and could see the rushes around the top lake and as is scanned around i could clearly see the bushes and trees moving in the wind and the further you go out or if you get a dark sheltered are there isa brightness button.

Now Using the IR is so differnt and i was spotting rabbits out at 130meter which were clear to shoot as i have attached a laser and matched it with my cross hairs at 100yrds using a 223 i was spoting and taking the shot in seconds.

Likes and dislikes

Dislikes first

1- the focusing is a bit fiddely and very light so if you put it down then you are bound to change the focus.

2- the rear veiw finder coulb be larger giving a more comfortable view i am going to see it it will hook up to an

old digital camcorder. to give a better view.

Likes

I liked the whole package i feel wit a bit of practise i will find the ranger easier to focus, i feel that the picture is much better than other Monoculars i have owned inn the past and i also like that you can adjust the main IR power output with a plus and a neg on the section next to the power and IR on and off button and the brightness control certainly helps were the dark hedge rows.

Overall

It is early days yet but a purchase i think well made i have not got lots of money so have to be careful what i get this exceeds my thoughts and has made me very happy and would give 4.5 out of 5.

I hope this helps members that can not get there hands on one to try and questions please ask :good: :good: :good:
