Gav912
Take a lookat the LaCrosse range of boots as well, got a pair of their Game Country boots and they are really comfortable with plenty of ankle support for walking over rough ground. Think they were around £100 from memory so not overlu expensive either
DaveK
For work I have two pairs of Altbergs a pair of Matterhorns, a pair of British Lowas and up until recently swore by the Altbergs. I got a pair of Lowa Seekers a few weeks ago and they beat the others hands down for comfort and weight. I also have a pair of Altberg Fremingtons that, if they were a bit wider, would have been perfect. They're well padded and lined but just too narrow. Sat in a cupboard unused which is a shame. It really depends on how often you'd be wearing them and for how long. Some boots are really good for short periods now and again as in Magnums which, if worn a lot don't seem to last very long. But 3 pairs of Magnums over the life of a quality pair of boots would probably cost about the same.
