Hi there first off I would like to say this only a guide if any members would like to add please do I've notice the number of new people to our sport and I thought I would put this guide together for them.

First off safety is the number 1 thing so before you begin check the chambers of your gun or the action if it's a semi auto for any cartridges and put your gun on safe.

Things you will need consist of.

A cleaning rod either metal or wood but I prefer wood

A cleaning cloth to take muck of try to get lint free

A silicone cloth to wipe to prevent rust

A bronze brush to the gunk out of the barrels

A wool mop to leave a film of oil in the barrels

A patch holder or jag to put patches on

Some gun grease

Bore cleaner I use wd40

If you have been out shooting you should let your gun come back up to room temperature  by diasembing your gun and wait until it up to room temp.

Spray your bore cleaner down the barrels and put to one side.

Clean off or the grease currently on the gun and then continue to clean the stock and forend of your gun.

If you've got a semi with a gas system you will notice carbon build up on the mag tube and piston itself to clean this you get a match then spit on the end of it then run all of the carbon off then wipe off with a cloth.

Next get your brush and assembled the cleaning did and push up and down the barrels about 10 each barrel would do next get your patch holder now you can use proper patch but they can get expensive so I find thick toilet paper does it fine fold length ways then side ways and slot on to the patch holder and pushe down the barrels until the come out clean next get your wool mop and apply a little bit of oil and push down and out of the barrels this leave a protective film of oil to prevent rust.

If your gun has militia chokes take your chokes out and clean inside and out if there is a lot of build up use your brushe to clean it out then apply a little bit of grease and fully tighten chokes then undo half a turn to prevent your gun being a fixed choke.

Put a bit of grease on the ejector sliders and the high contact points like the barrel hinge and knuckle.

Next reassemble your gun and wipe over everything including wood metal synthectic with your silicone cloth this leaves a protective film of silicone over your gun to prevent rust.

Now your done I hope this helps some people out any questions please ask
