nobby63
Had a good friend visit today and the conversation started about closed certificates and after hearing my comments on the requirement of informing your licensing dept of where you are shooting for every farm being a pain, but an important requirement, made him check his certificate and unfortunate for him its closed ! He was shooting early 70s till 1984 then submitted a letter on renewal explaining that renewal of certificate was not required as he had sold all his rifles. He kept his shotgun Cert active over the following years till in 2010 decided to apply again as a Fac holder. After 26yrs of lapse time his application for certificate was approved but because of the years apart there must be no records kept for the prevous certificate held, thus closed cert. Heartache Permission letters are on there way, Thought I would share this with you all, incase simular has happened with friends ? And for thought incase anyone may do the same. David BASC
There is often a bit of 'confusion' about open / close certificates. i hope you will find this paper on the BASC web site useful: http://www.basc.org.uk/en/utilities/document-summary.cfm/docid/5E0134CC-58CC-4FEE-8F2C528EAF147301 David
