I had a look about 1 of my permissions sat evening in the rain, it all started when l went into 1 of the woods to put up a highseat and clocked a group of red that had given me the run about all winter, they were on a bit of new ish coppice work although l had the rifle on the sticks with a particular young stag in mind l eventually decided not to cull as it would have been a hell a a drag out so that was that. l then went for a drive about to see what was moving elswhere in the rain l clocked a big pregnant doe with a good buck and another doe a bit further along, it was then time for a walk about l parked up and went into another wood and got into a stalk with a young roe buck l clocked laying up turned him down as the shot was towards a main road, carried on a bit further a low and behold there was the reds again about a mile from where l had first seen them after a short stalk l was in position for a shot on the same stag l waited for them to get in a better position, while waiting a nice 6pt roe came out for a feed 10yds away from me and the dog, l could see the dog was getting very exited with 9 red and a roe all within 50yds of us anyway the roe had enough and was off (not that he was going to be culled anyway) and by this time the red were a bit adgitated so once the stag had presented himself l let the 243 go now these deer were between a rape field and a wood so l was hoping that if he ran he would go into the wood but no he went 50yds into the rape which meant l got a drenching getting him out of the field, o well happy days.

Sorry no pics, l must remember to take some when l stalk these days.
