whatbarndoor?
I recently purchased and fitted a Hawk 3-9 x 40 AO IR scope. It is the new style with the switch/battery compartment on the saddle. The scope is fine and suits me and my shooting, My problem is I can't unscrew the battery cap to replace the battery as described in the instructions. I have got a good grip and I don't want to use any tools if I can help it to avoid damaging the scope. Now I'm probably being a complete muppet and I'm doing it all wrong, lets face it, it won't be the first time. Does anybody have any experience with these scopes and can give me any pointers. jamiedenny
Use a cloth over the screw cap and a pair of mole grips, the hawke ir caps are always hard to turn.

whatbarndoor?
Thanks for the help guy's, done that, got the little blighter off. Hawk obviously didn't mean that to fall off. I wonder why they don't make these things with a coin slot or better still supply a plastic socket to fit the serrations on the cap, would make life so much simpler considering these things may have to be changed in the field.
