cwb4321
Hi, I am looking for someone to teach me how to pigeon shoot in the somerset area. I am a keen clay shot but have never shot real birds. I have applied for a licence so should come soon. Thanks Charlie
speckled frank
Hi Charlie, Welcome to Pigeon Watch. Best wishes from Kent. You're doing the best thing by looking for someone to take you under their wing (sorry!) for a bit. Like you my pal and I are new to pigeon shooting. We started off by asking around our local clay club for advice. The Sec. was most helpful and even suggested one or two places to get permission to shoot. One evening recently we met a guy out dog walking who, within a half hour, taught us more about decoying, flightlines and humane dispatch than you would ever read in a mag or book. He even showed us how to open up the pigeon's crop to see what the bird had been feeding on. That's lesson 2! Good luck with your shooting. There's more pleasure in a clean kill on a pigeon than in a 100 broken clays. And get a book of pigeon recipes mate!
