Ant8681
I have been out a few times in the past week, my first session was on the squirrels they proved to be quite frustrating as we have knocked hell out of the local population recently and the ones that are left are switched on and staying in the tops of the trees and not using the feeders. In the end I had to give pw member Click a call to get out of bed and give me a hand with one particularly annoying tree rat, we had him in the end and one of his mates! http://i1171.photobu...81/DSC_0115.jpg The next day I went back on the squirrels early, none showed which I guess is good but I think my dog would disagree as she seems to be addicted, we will have to make new boxes to put up in other parts of the woods, I did manage to bag a bonus woody that made the mistake of landing right in front of us though, so the trip wasn't a waste. http://i1171.photobu...81/DSC_0146.jpg Last night I thought that I had better go and show my face at a couple of my rabbit permissions, I walked through the first gate using some geese as cover and spotted some ears the other side of the fence so I took up position on the sticks and waited for the geese to move, when they did I gave a little squeak and up popped a head I took the shot but didn't get the tell tale twack! I thought I had missed so I moved on slowly trying to see if I could get another shot at it as I didn't see it run either but there was nothing!. A bit miffed I moved off around the field I spotted a few white tails but there wasn't much cover so didn't get another shot until I got back to the gate where I spotted a big bunny. I steadied myself on the gate and took the shot, he dropped where he stood so I went and collected it and noticed a growth on his back. I took it home and took a look and it was full of white stuff, yuck! I will be using that one as fox bait! http://i1171.photobu...81/DSC_0153.jpg I was sure that I had shot the first rabbit so I went bact to check and as I was walking the other way down the hedge I could see that I had infact shot the other rabbit but it had dropped without a twitch behind a tuft of grass, when I picked it up I was slightly freaked out about how hairy it was!! http://i1171.photobu...81/DSC_0152.jpg http://i1171.photobu...81/DSC_0149.jpg
