They have started harvesting on one of my permissions and when I saw the gamekeeper the other day he said that I should go and have a crack at the corvids so when I saw that one of the fields had turned black I was convinced! I set out early to get the hide set up, I had packed the hw100 as well just in case I saw the odd squirrel ( I want them head shot to sell) I was glad I had as the first crow came in and landed at half 6, not wanting to annoy anyone with a bang so early, I quietly slipped the gun through the netting, took aim and thwack! he went down at 50 yards.

Not much else happened for the next hour apart from a few flying high over the top of me so I took a peak through the hedge behind me and there they all were, so I grabbed my decoys, cartridges and gun and crept up the hedge and into the next field, I set the decoys out and found a nice spot under a tree and waited. Shortly after a pigeon came hounding up the hedgeline, that shot sent up a load of blacks on the other side of the field which obligingly flew my way, I started shaking and was thinking "I bet I bleddy miss!" I waited till the last second, stepped out of the hedge, and to my supprise both birds I fired at fell out the sky!

Shortly afterwards another small flock made its way towards me and the same thing happened! By now I had been standing in the rain for about three hour and was soaked through to the skin so decided to call it a day but I will definatly be back next week when they cut the rest, I hope!
