scubadog
I wonder if some one could help me with somnething quite fundamental. According to this page from BSAC and the marks on my gun I beleive the proof to be 1011 Bar wich converts to 14 663 psi. Lead Shot 12 Guage 1 7/8 oz. Longshot powder Win. 209 Pimer Rem. SP12 WAD 30.8 Grains 11,000 PSI 1210fps This recipie comes from Hogdon. If for arguments sake I wanted to use it I preume it is fine to do so in my gun? What are the CIP limits on cartridge pressure? I have found the details for steel but not lead cartridges. Thanks
Guest cookoff013
740 bar is cip for 12-70mm lead. that figure you have is what its proofed to, not what pressure you should be running. longshot is a slow burning powder, so needs pressure to burn it cleanly. however this load is only 500psi below the maximum pressure for saami specs. it is over cip pressures. most modern guns now are proofed beyond super safe.
