Bloke
I have just picked up an Ultradot Match-Dot sight for what I think is a good second-hand price, but one of the long screws in the mounting clamps is missing and I would also like to buy a polarising filter for it. Trouble is, I can only find a US company, who won't post outside the USA. Does anyone here have one of these, or know where I can get spares in the UK? obviously, I can get generic scope mounts, but I would prefer to use the originals. Any help or advice welcomed... Bloke
Time for a small rant... No flippin' wonder people get hacked off -It has taken me 3 days of searching to find this bolt! The parent company can't send me one, and all four of the supposed 'gunsmiths' I rang couldn't be ar$ed - "Just buy a new set of rings, they are only about £40" ! FORTY QUID? - just for one bolt!? After ringing a few engineer mates and borrowing a set of thread gauges, it turns out the bolt /screw is 32 threads per inch, and after some arcane multiplying and addition, it is 0.138 inch diameter - off to the internet..... Only three firms sell them in UK at first glance (Iam sure there must be more, but I was losing the will to live by then...) Turns out they want the thread details and size in imperial and the length in metric! Anyway, a nice young man at a model aircraft parts supplier sold me a pack of ten (Min order size) over the phone for £2.00 - postage free! Come on dealers, we know you have to make your profits, but why do we have to have this in the UK, when, if I lived in the US, I can get all the spares/parts I need individually, rather than replace the whole unit! I know it is a smaller population, and stock on shelves that isn't selling is lost profit, but with a little co-operation from the manufacturers, like they obviously have in the US, at least have the proper details/spec of the parts available from firms where you are a stockist, so that people can order them themselves. I know shooting is an expensive sport, but this verges on silliness. As I am retired, it has cost me nothing for the time to do the search, but if it was my work time, it would maybe be cheaper to replace, however that is no excuse... Rant over!! *(still trying to source the other filters/spares, but at least I can start to use the sight when the bolts arrive ) Edited October 15, 2012 by Bloke
