Amazed
Hi all. Got a build coming up when my mrs Gos back to work, freeing up some of my wages What am after is an action with a 223 bolt face suitable for re barreling in 221 FB Is it just a chance thing finding an old gun or is there somewhere that specialises in shot out rifles etc ? Thanks Karl. Edited July 31, 2013 by Amazed
roger3167
I had a .221 Fireball but had the barrel replaced the origional was so poor. There was a lot of problems with the early models they wouldnt eject properly and would leave the fired cases in the action, the later models were modified so the case would clear the action better . i reloaded my own ammo it was rare to see a box of .221Fb on the shelf at that time around here. I sold it due to all the niggling faults with it , but when it did fire it wass very accurate, 40 gr builit well over 3500fps, with no recoil. Like i said the later models were so much better, so becareful when buying second hand if you find a one.
Amazed
Hi pal. I chose the chambering due to being able to use similar components as with the 22 hornet and it having a bit more legs I have read some good things about this mild mannered cartrage ! I think the chances of finding a s/h rifle in good condition are very slight so I decided on a re barrel. Most probable it will be off a rem 700 action as I am told its good for bits and easy to mod. In a perfect world I would love a valkerie thor action in single shot but really carnt stretch to 1600 notes for the barrelled action alone :( So a semi custom rem 700 seems a more sensible compromise Thanks Karl.
