Colc08
Has anyone used this gun blue cream? I have a few scratched on my Browning 12g barrels and from what i understand you clean up your barrels and free them from oil and grease and then run this cream over your barrels as they are and it will cover and touch up the scratched barrels. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has used this and is it any good? What will it do to the rest of the barrels that are not scratched? Cheers
Markt3815
Don't do it mate it looks a mess and wears off quickly , cold blue is a no no imho , it costs about £80 from opposite Manchester airguns proper pot blueing it will look like new .. Les*1066
Cold bluing never works well as a 'touch up' process. You just end up with patches of bluing in various shades that just look awful. As Mark says, go for a professional reblue or just learn to live with it until you have a few more marks that need covering!
Colc08
Yeah thanks guys. I suspected that would be the case. How much would it cost to have and o/u 12g properly blued at a gun smith?
Markt3815
If your barrells are brazed then normal bluing is ok , £80 was cheapest quote I had for my beretta , if you phone Manchester airguns they will give you the number of a guy called Collin who does this for a living ..on the other hand if there soldered together the price doubles as I found with my aya they had to be rust blacked using a different method , hope this helps nothing's ever straight forward..
