Holland&Holland
Yesterday i was out counting red deer again at Terlet (the glider airfield from the previous post). This time instead of driving around i got on a high seat and installed myself for a lovely evening. I post some pictures of the paperwork we have to fill out to register the red deer. This includes drawings of the antlers, age, sex etc.. It is in dutch, sorry. At around 18.30 a sturdy roebuck came out together with a doe. The roebuck was very busy marking it's territory. On one of the pictures he is urinating on the ground. After this he started to kick with his legs on the ground to disperse the urine, and was rubbing it's antlers at the tree stumb to leave a scent. Got this on film, nice! Then at 20.30 7 red deer came out of the woods (first 5 then 2). They walked straight past and started feeding on the grass of the airstrip. Very nice to see them upclose, and i could fill them up nicely on my form. Then i heard some noise from behind. A badger came walking past looking for food. He was scratching the ground, making a lot of noise but the red deer where not bothered by it. I even used a flash to make a pretty picture and the badger just looked a bit amazed and started digging again. When it was dark i went home and the red deer where still there. Needless to say i had a pleasant evening. some more
