Gun Watch
Sauer, J. P. Model XVII £295 12 gauge Shotgun Private Seller Used - Average Condition Birmingham , West Midlands Side by Side, Cylinder, Cylinder, 30" barrels Description J.P Sauer and sons boxlock ejector Model XVII shotgun 30" Barrels 15" LOP Choked cylinder & cylinder Weight 6lbs 12oz Ejector Serial number 138498 2 1/2 inch chambers with very good ejectors Lovely engraving all over the action with scalloped fences and a Greener cross bolt, locks up very tightly. This has upper and lower check bars along with cocking indictors which have the patent number engraved around them. The patent numbers engraved around these can date the gun to around 1910 - 1920 30" Barrels that have been replaced with Cogswell & Harrison 168 Piccadilly London SW1 barrels at some point in it's life. This job has been very well done and by a high quality London maker. The barrels have some external pitting that I have tried to show in the pictures. The barrels have good blueing which is done over all of the pitting. Internally the barrels are clean and in very good condition. The wood is a very nicely figured walnut with an ebonite butt plate and engraved metal embellishment to the pistol grip with a vacant oval Overall a very nice gun that is the perfect stock and barrel length. Shoots really well and a great game gun The seller of this gun doesn't appear to be a Pigeon Watch member, to contact them please use the details on Gun Watch.
