Popgun
I've allways had cockers i do a bit of beating and have a rougth shoot 800 acres small fields thick blackthorne hedges small woods heavy brambles ponds and wet marshy ground a good long days walk around about 6 or 7 phesants a few rabbits the odd duck or 2 pidgeons crows somtimes a few woodcock, the cocker just works the cover and retrives wot i shoot the only training he has is to come back to the whistle and retrive to hand. now old age is catching up with me i need to train a steady dog to sit in a hide or on a peg, i've just got a 20 week old cocker dog pup from a keeper, i took him to my shoot to get him used to the livestock no gun. he went in the brambles and pushed a rabbit out then cock phesant out of a hedge so i think he will do the job. my question is which gundog training book would you recamend to me to train the pup from scratch Thanks Popgun
Deb B
Here in the US, Hup is our bible, but I also like Bill Tarrant's books. I'm sure NTTF has a library full of tomes from which you can study.
